Water Repellent means that it is hydrophobic, or repels water on contact.
Water Repellent is a processing waterproofing treatment that covers the surface of fibre with a nanoparticle compound and gives the fabric excellent water repellent. It also provides washing durability.
If you have done your water-repellent work, it is certainly going to give you better protection than an item that is water resistant, but it still isn’t to the same level as waterproof. A water-repellent work has a higher level of water protection than water-resistant, but still not waterproof.
Water Repellent coatings are used on both water-resistant and waterproof jackets. The easiest way to explain what this coating does is to look at the surface of a new rain jacket during a light rain. When you see water drops bead up and roll off, you’re seeing water repellent in action.
